- Exercise- We begin each class focusing on building muscles and increasing flexibility.
- Kata- the first part of training. Kata is a series of techniques put together in a certain sequence to make learning & remembering easier.
- Self Defense- Students learn self defense moves taken from the katas they are practicing.
- Fighting- There are 3 types of fighting: full contact, no contact and controlled contact. We train with controlled contact. It is my belief that it is better for students to have the practical experience of a fight (both being in the fight as well as how it feels to get hit) in a controlled situation. This takes away the shock of being hit for the first time and it allows students to become more familiar with what actual physical contact feels like.

This class emphasizes traditional Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate and Self Defense. Students will learn more than just how to defend themselves. They learn how to avoid a confrontation, to work hard, to work with others and self control. Students will build a more positive attitude, self esteem and respect for themselves and others. Karate increases motor skills, improves flexibility and helps to reduce injuries in other sports.

-Teen/adult class (13-adult)
The basis for this class is traditional Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate and Self Defense with an emphasis on the needs of women. Students will learn how to defend themselves, how to reduce the chances of being attacked and how to maximize their own strengths.

Private lessons are open for students 4 yrs old to adults. The foundation to these lessons is traditional Okinawan Shorin-Ryu
Karate and Self Defense tailored to the goals & ability of the individual student. Students will learn more than just how to
defend themselves. They learn how to avoid a confrontation, discipline and self control.

Private lessons are open for groups of 2 to 6 students 4 yrs old to adults. The foundation to these lessons is traditional
Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate and Self Defense tailored to the goals & ability of the individual student. Students will learn
more than just how to defend themselves. They learn how to avoid a confrontation, work as a team, discipline and self control.
